What is a Push Strategy? What is a Pull Strategy?

What is a Push Strategy?

A push strategy and a pull strategy are the two main options within promotion. The difference here is it's a strategic choice between promoting to our intermediaries (which are our wholesalers, our retailers, or the people that sell our products) or the people that we want to buy our products (in other words consumers).

With a push strategy, we target those intermediaries (those wholesalers and retailers) and we try to get them to sell our product.

What is a Pull Strategy?

In contrast, with a pull strategy, we try to communicate to our consumers and try to get them to buy the product. So, we we want to motivate them in a pull strategy.

Either way the end goal is to sell the product. It's really a question of who we target with our promotions.
