What is a Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor (CRPC)?

The Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor (CRPC) is a credential that the College for Financial Planning (CFFP) awards to professionals who specialize in retirement planning and counseling. 

Candidates for the designation must complete a program of study and pass an examination.

The study program covers a range of courses including pre-retirement needs, post-retirement needs, asset management, estate planning, and others.

Once the credential is earned, professionals are required to complete 16 hours of continuing education and pay a fee to the college to continue using this designation.

Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor Program Details

CRPC costs $1,300, the college, however, offers a discount to eligible candidates who are gainfully employed in the financial services industry. Candidates are required to go through coursework whose core topics include;

  • Principles and Strategies When Investing for Retirement
  • Maximizing the Client Experience During the Retirement Planning Process
  • Navigating Health Care Options in Retirement
  • Making the Most of Social Security Retirement Benefits
  • Bridging the Income Gap: Identifying Other Sources of Retirement Income.
  • Designing Optimal Retirement Income Streams
  • Achieving Tax and Estate Planning Objectives in Retirement

After completing the coursework, candidates must pass the final exam within a year of enrollment, the exam must be taken within six months of enrollment. 

Candidates who fail the exam at the first trail with pay $100 for an additional examination attempts.
