What is the Pregnancy Discrimination Act?
The Pregnancy Discrimination Act prohibits employers from discriminating against women workers who become pregnant or give birth.
Specifically, employers with health or disability plans must cover pregnancy, childbirth, and related medical conditions in the same manner as other conditions are covered. A Plan that covers female employees must cover mail employee’s wives.
The employer cannot force pregnant women to stop working until after birth.
