Deficit hawk is a slang term that advocates a reduction in government spending.

Deficit Hawks tend to proactive in pointing out spending increases or tax revenue decreases that will result in an increase in the federal budget deficit. These individuals watch closely proposed legislation and budget proposals that will have the effect.
