What is Deductive Reasoning?

Deduction means to deduce from. More specifically, it means inferring things and possibly arriving at a conclusion based upon generally are universally accepted premises (statements or facts).

More simply put, you draw a conclusion about a situation from the facts and some facts or seemingly universal beliefs you have.

For example, I see one person hitting another person. I can deduce from my understanding of violent actions that the person doing the hitting is angry at the other person. As you can imagine, however, there is a possibility that my deduction is not accurate.

Deductive Reasoning is unique from Inductive and Abductive Reasoning
