What is a Chartered Market Technician?

A Chartered Market Technician (CMT) is a designation awarded by the Market Technicians Association (MTA) to qualified technical analysts. 

Candidates must demonstrate expertise in scientific market analysis as shown in a series of three professional exams. 

The CMT Exam

 The applicant has five (5) years from the date of enrollment in the CMT system to complete all three (3) stages of the CMT. 

Applicants may only take one exam per test administration. 

Generally, the level 1 test focuses on a fundamental understanding of the terminology and analytical tools used in technical analysis. 

The CMT Level II test requires applying, implementing, introducing, incorporating, adopting, adapting, adding and integrating more further defined logical procedures and advanced investigative theory,

CMT Level III test tests the applicants ability to analyze contextual investigations, make suggestions and legitimize those proposals dependent on the information given.
