What is Carriage Paid To (CPT)?

CPT is one of the eleven standard foreign trade terms which the International Chamber of Commerce publishes. In a Carriage Paid To transaction, goods are delivered by the seller to the carrier or any other individual the seller chooses. The seller must pay the freight fee for transporting the products to the chosen destination. Once the goods have been handed over to the carrier, the risk of losing or damaging the goods is shifted from the seller unto the buyer. The seller takes responsibility only for organizing freight to the chosen destination, and is not responsible for insuring the shipment of the goods when its being transported.
